Maine Health Cardiology

Maine Medical Center turned to Langford & Low for an interior renovation of Maine Health Cardiology located at 96 Campus Drive in Scarborough, Maine. This project involved 44,000sf of the existing 80,000sf three-story medical office building. Work was required on all three floors and was phased around occupied space.

They know what it means to work in a hospital environment. In our environment, that’s the number one priority. We can’t jeopardize a patient’s health.

The renovation also required demolition of existing partitions, interior finishes and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sprinkler systems, followed by the construction of new exam and meeting rooms, offices and bathrooms.

Weathertight conditions had to be maintained in all construction areas to avoid impact on occupied areas and mitigation of noise, vibration and odors was extremely important. There was limited use of driveways and entrances so coordination of deliveries of material and equipment with existing operations was essential. There was also limited space available on-site for storage of those materials.

Langford & Low’s pre-construction services included schematic, DD and construction bid scopes of work and budgets including constructability reviews and value engineering. Upon final approval of the scope and budget, a CM/GC contract was executed for the project. Our own forces completed 20% of the work.
